Are you looking for methods to offer category discounts on your WooCommerce store

Category discounts are one of the popular ways to increase sales at your eCommerce store. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to create a category discount in WooCommerce.

As you know WooCommerce does not have any features to add discount rules by default. We will be using the Dynamic Pricing & Discount Rules plugin to create category discounts in WooCommerce. It offers a wide range of features to create a pricing discount rule based on cart total, category, users role, and product.

So keep reading and check out how to create a category discount in WooCommerce.

Why You Might Want To Add WooCommerce Category Discount?

The category discount can be an excellent strategy to increase sales on your WooCommerce store. Using category discounts, you can offer discounts on all products in a specific category. Discounts encourage users to buy the products and services from your store.

When you have certain products to offer discounts on, you can create a new category for those products. For example, if you have a clothes store, you might want to offer discounts on all winter clothes in the Winter season. You can create a new category “Winter Sales” for winter clothes only and offer a flat discount on all of them. Similarly, you can use the same method for stock clearance sales. It ultimately helps to boost sales and revenue effectively.

How To Enable WooCommerce Category Discount?

In this section, we will show how you can install the Dynamic Pricing & Discount Rules plugin in WooCommerce. By the end of this article, you will be able to create category discounts on your WooCommerce store. So, follow all the steps carefully and verify settings with the given images.

Note: You can skip the first two steps if you have already installed and activated the mentioned plugins.

1. Install and Activate Woosuite Core Plugin

First, you have to download the Woosuite core plugin file on your device. After that, you need to upload and install the plugin to your WooCommerce site.

Go to Plugins and click Add New. Then click on the Upload plugin and choose the plugin file. After uploading the plugin, click Install Now.

Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin > Choose File > Install Now

When the plugin is installed successfully, click on Activate Plugin to activate the plugin.

2. Install and Activate Dynamic Pricing & Discount Rules

After the Woosuite core plugin is activated, there will be a new option “Woosuite” on the WordPress dashboard. On the Woosuite’s Addons page, you can manage your plugins by installing, activating, and deactivating them.

Click on Woosuite and go to the Addons page. Then find the Dynamic Pricing & Discount Rules plugin and click Install Now to install it.

Now, you have to activate the plugin by turning the button to ON as shown below.

3. Use Category Pricing

After the plugin is activated, the new option “Pricing” will be added to the Woosuite panel. From the Pricing settings, you can create different discount rules on your WooCommerce store.

Click on Woosuite and go to Pricing. For creating a category discount, navigate to the Category option.

4. Set Discount Type

You can set two types of discounts on the products category.

  • Price Discount: It is the total amount of price for the discount on products.
  • Percentage Discount: It is the percentage amount of the total amount of the product.

By default, category pricing rules will apply to all the user roles in the store. You need to enable the category to set the specified discount.

For example, if you have to set the price discount of 15 on Hoodies and a percentage discount of 10% on Accessories, you can configure the category discount as follows:

After setting up the pricing rules, you have to save the changes to apply the rule to your WooCommerce store. So, click on Save changes on the right top corner of the page.

Now, let’s go to the category pages and verify whether the pricing rules are applied to the store.
