By default, WooCommerce does not have any feature to replace price with text. So, you will need the Request a Quote plugin to replace price with text in your WooCommerce store. So keep reading to find out how to replace price with text in WooCommerce.

Why Might want to Replace your Price with Text in WooCommerce?

There are several conditions when you might need to replace price with text in the WooCommerce store.

  • If you want to hide the price for guest users, you can replace the price with the text “Login to see price”.
  • If you want the users to call for price, you can replace the price with the text “Call for price”.

When you replace the Add to Cart button with the Quote button or Custom button, users will not be able to add products to the cart. Instead, they can add products to the Quote page using the Request a Quote button. On the Quote page, they can submit messages along with their name and email to enquire about the product. Admin can view the quotes submission in the WordPress dashboard and reply to users through email.

1. Install and Activate Woosuite Core Plugin

First, you have to download the Woosuite core plugin file on your device. After that, you need to upload and install the plugin to your WooCommerce site.

Go to Plugins and click Add New. Then click on the Upload plugin and choose the plugin file. After uploading the plugin, click Install Now.

Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin > Choose File > Install Now

After the plugin is installed, click on Activate Plugin to activate the plugin.

2. Install and Activate Request a Quote Plugin

When the Woosuite core plugin is activated, there will be a new option “Woosuite” in the WordPress dashboard. Now, we will install the Request a Quote plugin.

Click on Woosuite and go to the Addons option. Then find the Request a Quote plugin and click Install Now to install it.

After it is installed, activate the plugin by clicking on the toggle button.

3. Add a New Rule

After the plugin is activated, the new option “Request a Quote” will be added to Woosuite.

Click on Woosuite and then go to Request a Quote. You can create a new “Request for Quote” rule by clicking on Add New Rule.

4. Set Rule Name and Type

On the first field, you can set the name for a new rule. Here, we have put Replace Price. You can set the name according to your choice but it is helpful to recall the name to edit the rule later easily.

Rule Type: In this field, you can select the audience to whom you want to apply the rules.

  • Quote Rule for Guest Users: The rule will be applied to guest or non-registered users. Choose this option if you want to replace price with text for guest users.
  • Quote Rule for Registered Users: You can use this option to apply the rule for registered users. After choosing this option, you will be able to select the user roles. For example, administrator, editor, author, contributor, subscriber, customer, shop manager, and wholesale customer. The rule will be applied to only selected user roles.

Rule Type:  This field takes an argument as a number. The number value ranges from high priority 1 to low priority 10. When you have multiple rules on the same product, a rule having a high priority value will be applied to the product.

5. Select Products

Now, you need to select the products on which you want to apply the rule.

Apply on All Products: You can check this option if you want to apply the rule on all products.

Quote Rule for Selected Products: In this field, you can select individual or multiple products to apply the rule.

Quote Rule for Selected Categories: This option is useful when you want to apply the rule to specific categories.

In this tutorial, we will apply the rule to all products.

6. Replace Price With Text

These two settings help to hide the price and display the specified text in place of the price section.

Click on the Hide Price dropdown and select the option Yes to hide the price. Then in the Hide Price Text field, enter the text you want to display when the price is hidden. For example, “Login to see the price”, this will prompt the users to login to the site.

7. Hide Add to Cart Button

Since the price will be hidden, there is no need for Add to Cart button. You can replace it with Quote Button or Custom Button. You can also provide the text to display on the Quote button or Custom button.

After you finish setting up the rule, you need to publish the rule to apply on the WooCommerce site.

Final Result

After the rule is published, go to the shop page to verify whether the applied settings are visible on the store.

As you can see on our shop page, all prices have been replaced with the text “Login to see the price”. Also, Add to Cart button is replaced with the “Request a Quote” button.

The same thing can also be seen on the product page. When the user clicks the Request a Quote button, it will be added to the Quote page. The user can fill out a form to contact you to enquire about the product.
