How to Add a Date of Birth Field in WooCommerce Checkout Form?

To add a date of birth field in the WooCommerce checkout form, I’ll be using the AIO Checkout plugin. This plugin will also allow you to add other advanced custom fields. 

Following are the steps to add a date of birth field in the WooCommerce checkout form. 

1. Install and Activate the AIO Checkout Plugin

Note: You can skip this step if you have already installed and activated the AIO Checkout plugin. 

To install the AIO Checkout plugin, you will need to install the Woosuite Core plugin and activate it with the help of a license key. We have created a Quick Start Guide for you to figure out how to install and activate the AIO Checkout plugin.

2. Navigate to the AIO Checkout

Once you have installed and activated the plugin, navigate to Woosuite » AIO Checkout from your WordPress dashboard.

3. Add a New Checkout Layout

Now we need to add a new checkout layout. Click the “Add New Checkout Layout” button to add it.

Once you click the button, you’ll be redirected to the default layout of the checkout form.    

4. Add a Date of Birth Field

You can add the custom and advance fields by clicking on the Gear icon on your screen’s right side. 

Once you click on the Gear icon, a pop-up will appear on the right side of your screen. You’ll see different fields that you can add to the checkout form or create a new form with the fields you want. 

4.1. Add a Date Field

First, we need to add a date field to allow the customers to select a date from the calendar. 

To add a date field, drag and drop the date field from the pop-up to the checkout form. I am adding the date field in the Billing Details section. You can add it anywhere in the form, depending on your choice. 

4.2. Change the Label of the Date Field

Once you have added the date field, we need to change the field’s label so that users will come to know that they have to add their date of birth in this field. 

To change the label of the date field, click on the Gear icon on the date field. 

Once you click the icon, a pop-up will slide in from the right side of your screen. FrYouan change the field’s label from the pop-up, make it a required field, and control its appearance.  

To change the label, enter the label in the Label field. In our case, as we want to show the date of birth field, I have added the label “Date of Birth.” 

You can also click the Required checkbox to make it a required field. I am not making it a required field. 

5. Enable the Checkout Form

Once you have made the changes, we now need to enable this form so that it replaces the default WooCommerce checkout form. 

To enable the checkout form, click on the Settings tab. 

Once you click it, you’ll see a toggle button from where you can enable the form. So to enable it, click on the toggle button. 

5.1. Give a Name to the Form

Now we need to give a name to this form. It will only be displayed to the admin. It is helpful if you have created different checkout layouts for different user roles. 

6. Save the Changes

Now click on the green “Save Changes” button at the top right corner of your screen to save the settings. 

Final Results

Now visit your store’s checkout page, and you’ll see a date of birth field in the billing details section. Now the users can click on the calendar icon and select their date of birth.
