In this type of combo offer, customers can choose multiple products from a specific category and get a discount on the total price. For example, you can offer customers to choose any three items from a selection of t-shirts, shorts, and hats and give them a 10% discount.
In bundle pricing, customers can purchase multiple products at a discounted price. For example, you can offer customers to buy a laptop and a printer together at a 10% discount.
In upsell bundles, customers are offered a bundle of products that complement the item they are already purchasing. For example, if a customer buys a camera, you can offer them a bundle that includes a camera bag and memory card at a discounted price.
Let’s dive into the tutorial for creating WooCommerce combo offers without any further ado.
How to Create WooCommerce Combo Offers?
To create the WooCommerce combo offer, I’ll use the WooCommerce Product Bundles plugin. This plugin will help you offer any type of combo you want, including the ones mentioned above, except the mix-and-match offer.
Note: To create a mix-and-match offer, you’ll need the WooCommerce Mix and Match Products plugin by Woosuite.
1. Install and activate the WooCommerce Product Bundles Plugin
Note: You can skip this step if you have already installed and activated the WooCommerce Product Bundles plugin.
To install the WooCommerce Product Bundles plugin, you will need to install the Woosuite Core plugin and activate it with the help of a license key. We have created a Quick Start Guide for you to figure out how to install and activate the WooCommerce Product Bundles plugin.
2. Add Products to Your Store
To create the combo offer, you’ll need to have products in your store that you’ll combine to make one product and allow customers to purchase that product at a discounted price.
I have already added a few products to my store.
If you haven’t added the products to your store, you can navigate to Products » Add New from your WordPress admin dashboard and add the necessary product details.
Note: Don’t worry. Suppose you don’t know how to add products to your store. The next step will help you with that.
3. Create the WooCommerce Combo Offer
You can follow the following steps to create the combo offer in WooCommerce.
3.1. Add a New Product
Navigate to Products » Add New from your WordPress admin dashboard to add a product to your store.
3.2. Add the Product Name
In the ‘Product Name’ field, add the product’s name. As we create a combo offer, I’ll add the product title that shows value to the customers.
3.3. Add the Product Description
We need to add the product description so users can know the specifications or other product information in the combo offer.
In the ‘Product Description’ field, add the product description.
3.4. Add the Product Image
To add the product image, click the ‘Set product image’ button in the ‘Product Image’ section and select the image from your WordPress media library or upload the image from your computer.
3.5. Add the Product to the Category
We need to add the combo product or bundled product into a category. You can add it to an existing category or create a new one by clicking the ‘Add New Category’ button in the ‘Product Category’ section.
I have already created a category and will add this combo product.
3.6. Select the Product Data Type
After that, scroll down to the ‘Product Data’ section and select ‘Bundled Product’ from the dropdown.
Note: This option is only added by the WooCommerce Product Bundles plugin.
4. Configure the Combo Offer
Once you have selected the bundled product type from the dropdown, a new ‘Bundled Products’ tab will be added to the section.
Click the ‘Bundled Products’ tab from the left sidebar in the product data section.
4.1. Template: I have kept it to the default. You can change it to “Above the fold,” if you like it, you can continue with it.
4.2. Apply to: This field defines how you want to group the products. You’ll get the following options in the dropdown.
- Product Categories
- Product Tags
I have selected the products from the dropdown to offer the individual products in the combo offer.
4.3. Select Products: In this field, you can select the individual variable products you want to offer as a product bundle.
I have selected three different products.
4.4. Select the Product Quantities
Once you select the products from the dropdown, you’ll notice a quantity field added for each product. You can select how much quantity of each product you want to sell to the customers in the combo offer.
4.5. Select the Price Display Type: You’ll get four options in the dropdown
- None: It means no pricing. Users will not see any pricing.
- Combined: It means that the prices of each product are summed up and displayed to the user.
- Range: The price will be shown in the range, from the lowest price of the product in the bundle to the highest price.
- Custom: You can specify the price of the bundled product as you want.
For this tutorial, I have selected the ‘Custom’ price display. Once you select this option, you’ll see a new ‘Add Rule’ button.
Click the button, and you’ll see two more fields below it to set the price.
You can select the ‘User Role’ to set the user role-specific pricing for this combo offer. I keep it to default, but you can play with the settings.
In the ‘Price’ field, enter the combo offer price.
4.6. Enable the “Add all to cart”: This field allows you to choose if you want to display the Add all to cart button on the combo offer page to allow users to add all the product items in the bundle to the cart at once. I have selected “Yes” from the dropdown.
4.7. Hide Individual “Add to cart” button: This field allows you to choose if you want to display the add to cart button for the individual products in the combo offer.
I have selected “Yes” from the dropdown. It will hide the individual cart buttons.
4.8. Hide the “Individual Quantity Field”: This field lets you choose if you want to allow the users to set the quantity of the individual product.
Keep this to ‘Yes,’ if you do not want to allow the users to change the individual product quantity in the combo offer and create their own set of products.
4.9. Hide Individual Prices: This field lets you choose whether to display individual products’ prices on the combo offer page. I have selected ‘Yes’ from the dropdown as I do not want to display the prices of individual products.
4.10. Hide Individual Description: This field enables you to select whether you want to display the description of each product on the combo offer page. I have chosen ‘No’ from the dropdown.
It will display the individual product and combo offer descriptions on the offer page.
4.11. Hide Bundle Upsell Notice: Enabling this option will display the upsell notice on each product’s page in the bundle. I do not want to hide it, so I have selected ‘No’ from the dropdown, and I recommend keeping this setting the same as I have.
4.13. Publish the Combo Offer
Once you have made all the necessary adjustments, scroll above and click the blue ‘Publish’ button to publish the combo offer.
5. Enable the Combo Upsell
Once you have created the combo offer, you need to enable the combo upsell. It will help you to upsell the combo products on individual products.
To enable the combo upsell, navigate to Woosuite » WooCommerce Product Bundles from your WordPress dashboard.
5.1. Enable the Bundle Upsell
Once you are in the plugin’s settings, enable the ‘Bundle Upsell’ option by clicking the toggle button next to it.
5.2. Add the Combo Upsell Text
After that, you need to add text to inform the customers about the combo offer on the combo product page.
Add the text you want in the ‘Bundle Upsell Text’ field.
5.3. Select the Upsell Template
Now, we need to select the upsell template. You can display the products in the combo offer in two different ways.
- Bundle Product List
You can use the template you want. But for this tutorial, I’ll select the ‘Bundle Product List’ from the ‘Upsell Template’ field.
5.4. Save Settings
You can also explore the other available settings. Once everything is done, click the green ‘Save Changes’ button at the top right corner of your screen to save the settings.
6. Final Results
Now, let’s see the final results. To check the results, please visit the WooCommerce combo offer page. You’ll see the combo offer and the products in the offer.
Now your customers can also purchase the value pack or the combo offer if they click any of the products and visit its product page. They will be upsold the combo offer that we created.
